  • Steelhead engineering performs structural calculations to verify compliance with IBC, CBC, ASCE 7-05, AISC, AWSD1.1, AWSD1.5, EIA/TIA-222, ACI 318-08, UBC, BOCA, SBC, NDS and other national and international building codes and standards.
  • We tailor our engineering services to meet our clients’ need, including preliminary engineering studies, permit packages (foundation and structure design, stamped drawings and calculations), fabrication drawings and installation drawings.
  • Our engineered steel products are supplied nationally from distribution centers in Oregon, Texas, Florida and New Jersey, providing our clients with both freight advantages and speed of delivery.

The 760-foot long Morrison Bridge pedestrian/bicycle railing retrofit spanning the Willamette River in Portland, Oregon required close collaboration with ODOT, Multnomah County and R&R Contractors. The project demanded seamless integration of a concrete parapet mounted pedestrian rail, modified 2-tube rail and actuated gate elements. Twin electronically actuated pedestrian/bicycle traffic control gates, cantilevered from the concrete parapet wall control traffic as the center bascule spans rise. When completed in 1887, the original bridge was the longest west of the Mississippi. Today, it remains the largest mechanical device in Oregon, utilizing 36- foot tall gears to drive 940-ton counterweights.
