Quality Assurance Efficiencies

Few companies can match Steelhead’s commitment to industrialized preassembly procedures. We take the extra time and effort to preassemble our engineered steel structures to ensure precise fit and finish. By pre-assembling at the factory, our customers realize measurable on-site assembly efficiencies. Our attention to quality assurance begins with our customer’s purchase order, and extends through coordination of delivery with the installation crew. Throughout the process, all parties are copied on all communication resulting in seamless delivery of design-to-destination engineered products.

Customer-Driven Services

These are just a few of the ways Steelhead manages every detail associated with your project to ensure our products and services consistently surpass strict budgetary, engineering and time frame requirements inherent in the fast paced world of energy infrastructure deployment:

  • Steelhead engineering performs structural calculations to verify compliance with IBC, CBC, ASCE 7-05, AISC, AWSD1.1, AWSD1.5, EIA/TIA-222, ACI 318-08, UBC, BOCA, SBC, NDS and other national and international building codes and standards.
  • We tailor our engineering services to meet our clients’ need, including preliminary engineering studies, permit packages (foundation and structure design, stamped drawings and calculations), fabrication drawings and installation drawings.
  • Our engineered steel products are supplied nationally from distribution centers in Oregon, Texas, Florida and New Jersey, providing our clients with both freight advantages and speed of delivery.

The 760-foot long Morrison Bridge pedestrian/bicycle railing retrofit spanning the Willamette River in Portland, Oregon required close collaboration with ODOT, Multnomah County and R&R Contractors. The project demanded seamless integration of a concrete parapet mounted pedestrian rail, modified 2-tube rail and actuated gate elements. Twin electronically actuated pedestrian/bicycle traffic control gates, cantilevered from the concrete parapet wall control traffic as the center bascule spans rise. When completed in 1887, the original bridge was the longest west of the Mississippi. Today, it remains the largest mechanical device in Oregon, utilizing 36- foot tall gears to drive 940-ton counterweights.
